These men will spend one or more days at Bonner. They will assist with the drop-off zone, help oversee the students on the playground, work in the lunchroom, volunteer in classrooms, etc. The overall mission of the Watch D.O.G.S. program is to provide additional security and support to the school. These men may be seen on any given day, throughout the building. You will know that they are part of this program, because they will be wearing their official
Watch D.O.G.S. T-shirts. Childrens' T-shirts are also available for purchase, for all kids whose dads/significant male figures volunteer for the program. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, please contact Pam Truncale, or leave a note and $15.00 per shirt payment in the front office, attention Bonner PTA. If anyone else is interested in becoming a Watch D.O.G., please inquire in the front office or e-mail our PTA President, Pam Truncale @ pamtruncale@cox.net. The official Watch Dog. Calendar, for the entire school year, is hanging in the main hallway of the school. You may sign up for any days that you would like to volunteer, simply by filling out one of the stickers and placing it on the desired date on the calendar. Thank you all for your overwhelming support of our newest program here at Bonner!!!
Be a Bonner Super Hero... become a Watch D.O.G.!
PTA Memberships Applications are available in the school lobby. Our goal is to exceed the 507 members that we had last year. We still need approximately 100 more members! The classrooms that attain 75% or higher membership sign-ups will be invited to attend a Special Super Hero Assembly. We invite all children, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors, etc. to join Bonner PTA. Although volunteering is always welcome and needed, it is not a requirement of becoming a member!!! Please support Bonner PTA by joining us today. If anyone is interested in volunteering to assist with our membership drive, please contact Pam Truncale @pamtruncale@cox.net
Would you like to become more involved in our school, and help out in other ways, besides your child's classroom? If so, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Desiree Vick at pd.jansob@gmail.com. You will then be entered into our volunteer database and be contacted whenever help is needed at school. You can then pick and choose where and when you would like to help out. You do not need to be a PTA member to join our Volunteer Force. Bonner is a GREAT school, but we can't do it without our GREAT Bobcat Parents!!!
Bonner PTA recently achieved 100% Bonner Staff Membership Sign-Ups. This is quite an accomplishment and an honor, having the entire Bonner Staff join our organization!
The PTA recently spent over $4000 to pay for the cost of enhancing our school's Accelerated Reader Program. As we speak, our books are being labeled in the library. Students will have access to over 150,000 tests to enhance their reading abilities. We hope to get the improved program up and running soon, and intend to offer prizes/incentives to our students to encourage more reading. We believe that The Accelerated Reader Program is an extremely worthwhile investment in our children.
The PTA has raised $5500 during our ongoing un-fundraiser event. Although the official un-fundraising drive ended with the creaming of Mr. Catania, on October 14th, the PTA will gladly continue to accept donations throughout the year.
A big thanks to Mr. Catania for being
such a great sport once again!!!
When children express themselves through words, pictures, music, dance, and other art forms, they grow intellectually and socially. They learn to analyze their thoughts, feelings, and ideas; learn to look at things, people, and experiences in a fresh and exciting way; and become more interested in the ideas and works of others.
The PTA Reflections Program is designed to enhance a quality arts education by providing an opportunity for students to explore their artistic talents and receive positive recognition for their efforts.
Each year, the PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. Themes are selected from hundreds of ideas submitted by students to the PTA Reflections Program Theme Search. The 2011- 2012- theme is “Diversity Means.”
Students participate in the Reflections Program by submitting entries to their local PTA. Nationally, the program has six arts areas—dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts—and four grade divisions—primary, intermediate, middle/junior, and senior.
Entries are judged on creativity and effort. They must be original, new, theme related, and only 1 student's unassisted work.
If you child is interested in participating in The 2011-2012 Reflections Program please have them see Bonner's Outstanding Art Teacher; Ms. Ankrapp, for A Nevada PTA Reflections Information Packet.
As many of you know, last year the administration and our PTA teamed up to create a drop-off zone out in front of our school. The d-o zone is run by staff, parent volunteers, and administration. This year, students may be dropped off in the d-o zone between 7:40 - 7:55 am. Please remember to pull your cars all of the way forward, so that we can keep the flow of cars running smoothly and ensure the safe arrival of all students. If you are interested in volunteering for the drop-off zone, please e-mail Pam Truncale @pamtruncale@cox.net.
The Student Directory will be available shortly and emailed to all of those who participated.
